Ehrhart Lays Claim to the 9th Annual York County
Nationals Crown
Newberrytown, PA
(September 5, 2009) – Dover’s Justin Ehrhart wired the start to
finish to win the 32-lap Late Model feature event at the 9th
Annual York County Nationals on Saturday night at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park. Craig Morgan of Halifax cam from a tenth place
starting position to win the 25-lap Street Stock feature event.
Andrew Frye of Etters won the 25-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature with a
last lap pass of Tommy Slanker. Bill Diehl of Wrightsville won the
15-lap non-stop Legends Cars feature event after battling Scott
Houdeshell for the win over the entire event. Matt Sowers won the
XSC Rookie Rumble race.
Racing action
returns to SSP on Saturday night, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. (note
new starting time) the Big Track will feature the Sprint Car
Invasion with the PA Sprint Series for their first visit to the
Susquehanna Speedway Park. The Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme
Stocks and Road Warriors will also be in action.

Carl Billet
Becomes First Repeat Winner of the Season at SSP on Saturday Night
Newberrytown, PA
(August 29, 2009) – Carlisle’s Carl
Billet became the first repeat Late Model winner in fifteen races
this season at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night. The
win also marked Billet’s 50th career win milestone at the
York County oval. Billet is the all-time feature win leader at SSP
at 50 leading Johnny Mackison Sr. (35), Bobby Hersh and Stevie Smith
(both at 33).
On Saturday
night, September 5 at 6:00 p.m. (note new starting time) the Big
Track will feature the 9th Annual York County Nationals
featuring a 32-lap Late Model championship. The Street Stocks and
Xtreme Stocks will each compete in 25-lap feature events as well.
The Legends Cars will also join the program.

Rain Wins at SSP on Stock Car Saturday Night
Newberrytown, PA
(August 22 2009) – After nearly a one-hour delay, competitors took
to the track for hotlaps at the Susuqhenna Speedway Park on Saturday
night. Near the end of the 1st of 2 planned hot lap
sessions, a persistent drizzle began forcing officials to cancel the
night’s activities. With nearly 100 competitors in the pits, every
effort was made to “get the show in.” Rainchecks for both the
grandstands and pits will be valid through Saturday, September 19
with proper ticket stub and wristband exchange (the difference in
price must be paid for higher ticket or pit pass prices, if
applicable). The Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown Night has also been
postponed for the second time this year due to rain. A new date for
this season may be announced. The hometown heroes night for all
towns in Maryand has also been rescheduled for Saturday night,
September 12, 2009.
On Saturday
night, August 29 at 7:00 p.m. the Big Track will feature a vintage
car exhibition with the Eastern Museum of Motorsports Racing.
Racing will include the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks,
PENNMAR Vintage Cars and the Mini Vans. The popular Hometown Heroes
Night will continue of August 29 featuring the towns of East
Waterford, Dauphin and Loysville. All fans entering the speedway
from East Waterford, Dauphin and Loysville will be admitted FREE to
the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling
out an information card at the ticket booth. Before the races
begin, the drivers from these hometowns will have the opportunity to
bring their cars to the frontstretch to meet the fans just before
the National Anthem at 7:00 p.m.

- Dover's Charles Potts visited the Late Model victor lane to
become the 14th different winner in as many Late Model feature races
held at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night.
Garrett Shover of Enola is having his best Street Stock season of
his career by picking up his third win of the season.
Windsor's Sam Rial edged out Tommy Slanker to win his second Xtreme
Stock feature of the year while Les Scrivens won the XSC Rookie
Rumble. Brian Weitzel's patience paid off for him to emerge
the victor in the 15 lap Legends Cars feature. Dan Snyder
returned to victor lane for the third time this season in the
Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van main event.

John Moser Jr. Continues the Streak of 13 Different Late Model
Winners
in 13 Races at SSP on Saturday Night
Newberrytown, PA (August 8, 2009) –
East Berlin’s John Moser Jr. kept the streak alive on Saturday night
at Susquehanna Speedway Park. Moser became the 13th
different winner in as many Late Model feature races held at the
northern York County oval this year. “It’s pretty incredible if you
think about it – 13 different winners,” Moser said. Moser led the
entire 20-lap chase, but it was far from easy. Moser had to contend
with early challenges from Gary Potts and Alex Updegraff, and then
several caution periods down the final stages of the race. “I
really felt as if I had a great working car,” Moser said. “I knew
that as long as I kept my line, then it was going to be tough for
someone to pass me.” Potts settled for the second spot, while a
hard-charging Jake Jones was third, Justin Ehrhart was fourth and
Chase was fifth. Sixth through 10th went to Carl Graves,
Smoke Christine, Kyle Saylor, Travis McClelland and Randy Christine
Jr. Heat races went to Charles Potts and Travis McClelland.
On Saturday night, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. the Big Track will feature
the annual Camera & Autograph Night. Racing will include the Late
Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks, Legends Cars and the Speedway
Auto Sales Mini Vans. The popular annual Camera & Autograph Night
is and event in which all fans will have the opportunity to meet
their favorite drivers with their cars on the frontstretch before
the feature events begin.

Carl Billet Continues the Streak of 12 Different Late Model Winners
in 12 Races
Newberrytown, PA (August
1, 2009) – Carlisle’s Carl Billet,
SSP’s all-time winningest driver, picked up his first SSP feature
win of 2009 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night, July
18, becoming the 12th different winner in as many races
for the Late Model division. In other side-by-side racing action,
Doug Bennett of Chambersburg won his third Street Stock feature of
the season by claiming the 20-lap feature. Windsor’s Sam Rial was
awarded the victory in the Xtreme Stock feature as Lemoyne’s Matt
Sowers won the XSC Rookie Rumble race. Fred Krickbaum claimed the
PENNMAR Vintage Cars feature event. The Speedway Auto Sales Mini
Van feature was won by Daryl Sipe of York Haven. A large group of
kid’s were able to scramble for more than $300 in coins on the
frontstretch, compliments of the Members 1st Federal
Credit Union.
The 20-lap Late Model
feature event saw Alex Updegraff grabbing the lead from the pole
position to lead the first five circuits. For the second
consecutive event, Travis McClelland wrestled away the lead on the
sixth lap until Carl Billet drove past him on the outside on lap
12. Billet pulled out to a ten car length lead at the end to claim
his 49th career SSP victory and extending his streak of
winning a feature event in each of the last 18 consecutive seasons.
Once again for the second race in a row, McClelland settled for the
runner-up spot with Gary Potts finishing in third. Randy Christine
Jr. drove a very ill-handling car to fourth place, followed by
Justin Ehrhart in fifth. Updegraff and Billet won the heat race
qualifiers.
Then on Saturday night,
August 8 at 7:00 p.m. the Big Track will feature the annual Picnic
in the Pits featuring Bike and Toy Giveaway for the kids 10 &
under. The Dover International Speedway representatives will also
be on hand as well with giveaways and contests for everyone. Racing
will include the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks, Women on
Wheels Mini Vans and the Road Warriors. The August 8 race event
will also be the “Hometown Heroes” night featuring the towns of
Halifax, Jonestown, Mt. Penn and Ona (postponed from July 25). All
fans entering the speedway from Halifax, Jonestown, Mt. Penn and Ona
will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo
identification and filling out an information card at the ticket
booth. Before the races begin, the drivers from those hometowns
will have to bring their cars to the frontstretch to meet the fans
just before the National Anthem at 7:00 p.m.
